Volunteering
Why Volunteer?
Volunteering with YOU is a rewarding experience. You can try out new types of work and help to make a real difference to people's lives. By volunteering with YOU, you can gain valuable experience that looks great on your cv, learn new skills, and make useful contacts. We will also provide written references which you can use for future job applications.
Perhaps, most importantly, volunteering for YOU will give you that "feel good" factor as you help people build a better quality of life. There is also a sense of personal achievement and fulfilment as a direct result of accepting a volunteering experience.
Whilst you are not bound to the hours you volunteer for, we will be asking for commitment and reliability particularly if you are befriending and buddying.
What Can I do?
Our volunteers really get stuck in! As a volunteer with YOU, you will be working with some amazing people. Just a few of the opportunities that you could help with are listed below:
Befriending and buddying
Providing music lessons
Arts and crafts classes
Host a pampering session
Help with shopping
Gardening services
IT volunteering
Help people build confidence
What can you expect?
Volunteering is real work. You can expect to be treated as a professional and your expenses, such as travel costs, will be repaid. In return, because you will be working with vulnerable people, we will need an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Check (CRB) and we will offer a full induction into your role. Being a volunteer doesn't affect any benefits you may be claiming. You can also expect to sign a short volunteering agreement which outlines your duties, responsibilities and our expectations.
Benefits of volunteering:
Great work experience
Improving your employability
Making a difference
Fun and fulfilling work
Professional environment
Learning new skills
